Siamese fairy tale Luciana

Once upon a time … there were those two step sisters as in every good fairy tail, falling into a dwell, waking up in some strange area. Wandering around they find some tasks that they do and not do and end up at Frau Holles house, who is ready to give them some more tasks. They do the tasks more or less thoroughly and in the end they are getting their well deserved reward – the one is covered with gold and the other with pitch. So here they are, gold mary and pitch mary!

This is the story of Frau Holle and when you think “Why the heck is she telling this strange German fairy tale?” then – let me tell you another thing: in this part of Germany, where I come from, was raised and still live, we are reaaaaally fond of Carnival. We all throw ourselves into costumes, have a drink (or two or three or twenty five) and have some fun with some really bad music.

Tadaaaa: Here is my version of siamese gold mary and pitch mary!

It’s a golden and black version of the Luciana dress of the book Sahneschnittchen. The fabric is 100% polyester what I usually try to avoid. It is not fitting perfectly but I think for carnival it is ok!

The back has also some pleats and darts and I need to work on my zipper technique!

As this is more a dress of only once occasion I consider it as a muslin for the real strike when I recreate the dress with a proper fabric.

The pleating is a bit off, I definetly need to work out those more accurate. I shortened the sleeves, the book is giving a sleeveless and a full-sleeve option. And last but not least I raised the neckline about an inch as I just did not want to have to show too.

I am sorry that I do not have any proper pictures but I was heading off for party and so the blog lacked a bit of attention. ;)

no-name golden and black polyester from local fabric store
